what kind of institution would produce your film? (vertigo)
I think that the film institution 'vertigo films' would produce my film. Vertigo was created in 2002 by producers allan niblo, james richardson and director, nick love. As it is quite a recent establishment, unlike Warner Brothers, it is more likely to take our film on with unknown directors and producers. This is because they are not in the potion to be picky as they are not as well known or established as bigger institutions are.
Although they have not made a thriller film similar to ours, they specialize in a youth audience which is relevant to our thriller, involving four teenagers. Films vertigo has produced which would attract youth audience are spring breakers. The fact that spring breakers did so well with Vertigo suggests that our thriller would have a similar impact.
As our set design and props and character chose would be inexpensive the low budget ethos of vertigo would fit the costs required for ours. The film institution also specialises in british pictures, and the theme of our thriller is very 'British teen', similar to skins or misfits. Our film wouldnt involve big named stars as we wouldn't want people associating any characters with any well known previous role they've had. I could definitely see our film on the page of Vertigo as the website it very youth based, with films attracting audiences from age 5-30. http://www.vertigofilms.com/. it would fit in with films such as monsters and sweeney but contrast with the child films such as Unbeatables and Topcat.
I would advertise our film through vertigo on television as personally, as a teenager I decide to go to a film if i see a good advert on tv. Teenagers also watch a lot of TV which means the advertisement would be direct to the target audience. I think it would also be a good idea to advertise with popups through facebook and other social medias as teenagers and young adults, the target audience, use social medias for hours everyday.
I believe our film would fit in at a chain cinema as it has the potential to be very popular to a wide audience base. Although I would focus on putting our film in cinemas in locations with a high population of people aged 15-30 as I believe those are range of people that would relate to the film most. 15 is a few years younger then the teenagers in the film whereas 30, people can relate back to their youth.
Vertigo own the film and football factory, target a male audience which is perfect for our film. Although some girls would enjoy our thriller, i think it would be more popular with boys as they are generally more interested in thrillers.
