Talk from Polydor Records

Today we had two video commissioners from Polydor Records to talk to us. I found the talk very interesting and informative. Polydor is British record label that operates as part of Universal Music Group. Polydor have artists signed such as 50 cent and Ellie Goulding.

We leant about the relationship video commissioners have with the directors and the artist themselves, that is a very close knit one. Whilst keeping the artist happy they also have to assure that the director is producing work that suits their style.

Both of the commissioners shared with us music videos that they had been a part of creating.

The video commissioners shared with us problems that they face on shoots. They said that you must be incredible patient as you can often be dealing with very stubborn artists who can sometimes not even turn up to their own shoot.

For example, Wiley, the artist for the video on the left failed to show up to his own shoot and so the video commissioner had to work with the director in recreating the plot and location in just one day.
