Audience Profiling

Recently our group have been pretty settled on using a song from the band The Internet.

I introduced this band to our group because I think they are perfect for our idea of recycling music/style. Although they are very modern in their style and image they are inspired by many older artists such as lauryn hill/ jarimoqui. There sound is also different in that they do fall under the category of hip hop but also have a very new and contemporary element of soul/funk.

I think that our audience would be pretty niche in comparison to pop or rock songs considering the internet is a fairly unknown band and the lead singer is a girl with all her instrumental done by males. Their modern format is something that not everyone is used to so people may have to be open minded.

These are our mood boards which I think categorize the type of people that would be interested in our music campaign:

I think that audience profile would fall under the following categories:
-Young
-Creative
-Female/male
-Interested in both old and new music
-working/middle class
-eccentric
-expressive
-variety of ethnicity

  1. Lucy you have addressed the prep tasks well from introducing what you are expected to complete for your Advance portfolio, but you need to think about task 4 more closely - that is to blogging research into existing music artist campaigns.
You have to completed research into expected target audiences and attempt to apply audience profiles – this will help you understand the need for a consumer/ market for the product of the image that is to be promoted. It also means that you will be able to complete the prep for this week. You could also add more examples of real media links to Soundcloud, Facebook pages etc. This will help you understand and develop a range of examples.
